A Well Insulated Cup

Those of us who drink hot beverages, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, know how important it is to have a well insulated cup. These cups not only keep the beverage inside hot, but they also keep them contained. Without a lid every shake or bump could cause the precious contents to be spilled out and wasted, possibly ruining what it is spilled on. The lid keeps it contained, but only until ready to time of consumption. Then, the lid needs to have a good sippy hole. I have discovered that not all sippy holes are created equal. It needs to allow the hot liquid to come out smoothly. I have a cup that the sippy hole seems to hold the contents back until the breaking point and then let ‘er loose. That is not a good scenario when consuming a hot beverage. So a way to let the beverage pour out smoothly is as important as keeping it contained until the right time and hot.

As Christians, we need to be a well insulated cup. Christians need to be filled up with Jesus on the inside. We need to be hot. We need to be contained until the right time. If we have no lid, when we are bumped or tilted we could spill our contents. Not only could it be at the wrong time, but it could be damaging to the people around us. However we don’t want to keep Jesus contained to ourselves either. We need an out let that allows Jesus to flow smoothly to those around us, giving them love, peace, and encouragement.

Jesus, in an insulated cup, ready to be poured out smoothly to bring life and hope to the consumer. Be a cup of Jesus while having a cup of Joe. 🍵☕

But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.
That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour
 * This is my cup my daughter and son-in-law got me Christmas two years ago.  I just got a handle for it.  But I have to remove the lid.  Ugh. It says it holds 30 oz., but I can only get 24 oz. without it sloshing too much.
