3 Then said the Lord unto me, Go yet, love a woman beloved of her friend, yet an adulteress, according to the love of the Lord toward the children of Israel, who look to other gods, and love flagons of wine.
Good told Hosea to marry Gomer, a woman who was an adulteress. Hosea treated Gomer like God wanted wives to be treated, to be cherished and treated with dignity and respect. However, Gomer left Hosea and returned to her previous lifestyle. Surely this confused and hurt Hosea. He did what God ask of him. He took in a broken, sinful woman and loved her and in return she left him and ended up in slavery. Then God told him, not just to forgive her and take her back, but to go get her and pay any price to get her back.
This shows us what God did for His people and what he will do for us. When we run away from God and fall into troubles we can’t get ourselves out of he has come after us to buy us back for himself. His love for us is beyond our understanding.
If God will pursue us when we run away from Him, what will He do for us and through us if we will run to Him.
